Vehicles  Registration & Titling in NH:

Image result for dmv nhRegistration a vehicle in New Hampshire is a two-part process (  first Town to registration  & Sate for titling ).The Vehicle registration  process may be different depending on whether the vehicle was purchased  or leased at a car dealership, through a private party.  Here is most common documents you may need to present: 
  • The vehicle title, or the blue pages of the title application (Only if you vehicle is purchased from dealership).
  • Manufacturer's Statement of Origin for new vehicles or title for used.
  • Lien holder information, if vehicle is financed.
  • Proof of residency (bank statement, lease or mortgage agreement, driver's license, etc.). V
  • Payment for registration fees.
  • The state and city fees will be collected as different transactions, so you will need to make out separate checks, money orders, or credit card payments.
  • Bill of sale and odometer discloser statement (Only for private sale)

1. Vehicle purchased from a New Hampshire dealership:

NH Dealership will process your title paperwork behalf of you but you have to go and register vehicle in town clerk office,  present to your town or city office the certificate of title (copy), or the blue copies of your title application (Town Copy).

2. Vehicle purchased from an out-of-state dealership:

Present to your town/city clerk your title from the dealership or the New Hampshire title application from the lien holder. If it is a brand new vehicle, a Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO) is required. Please provide proof of residency if you have not already done so as established by your town/city.

3. Registering a vehicle purchased in a private sale: 

Bring  assigned title certificate to the town/city where you live & provide proof of residency in case if you haven't done. 

4. As New Resident: 

First go to your town/city clerk's office to determine your residency and start your registration process. Once residency is determined by your town or city clerk, if you have the title of your vehicle or it is exempt from title you may process the entire transaction at your town or city clerk's office. If you have an out-of-state loan or are leasing the vehicle, you will get temporary plate which is good for 60 days.
